Derek Hough Quits 'Dancing With The Stars'

Derek Hough will not be returning to Dancing With the Stars for season 12. He has decided to give acting a try and is set to play the lead role in an the upcoming dance movie Cobu 3D.

Filming is scheduled for filming this Spring in New York and Toronto.

So the three-time champ will be taking the next season off.

Derek talked about the upcoming flick, in which he plays a New Orleans street dancer who moves to New York and falls in love with an Asian drummer, saying the movie will include "some incredible dance numbers." Adding, "People will see a much edgier side of me and these other styles of dance I'm capable of doing."
