Kirsten Dunst Talks 'Melancholia' + Her Love of 'True Blood'!

Kirsten Dunst and True Blood hottie, Alexander Skarsgard come together in a visually stunning drama about depression and the end of the world in Lars von Triers, Melancholia. With the film hitting theatres this week, I (Chelsea Briggs) got the chance to sit down with Dunst, who's welcoming personality added fun and goofy banter to the interview -- much different than the likes of her character Justine, whom she plays in the award winning film.

The 29-year-old actress, who I've personally been a fan of since her days of Jumangi and of course, Bring it On -- chatted with me about the awkwardness of filming the nude scenes, and her love for the HBO show, True Blood --  which made having Skarsgard as her costar, an exciting thing! I can honestly say that after seeing the film, I left the theatre in awe for two reasons. First, I was taken back by the unique artistic sense and over all beauty of it. And, second I was overwelmed emotionally from the stress and angst I absorbed from the characters. The film is told in two parts, each named for one of two sisters, Justine (Kirsten Dunst), a brilliant mainic-depressive, and Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg). We find them on the day of Justine's wedding to Michael (Alexander Skarsgard), an affair taking place at a mansion owned by Claire's husband, John (Kiefer Sutherland).

The second half focuses on Justine, Claire and John, and their son preparing for the passing of Melancholia. It's a fast-approaching planet that John, a knowledgeable amateur astronomer, and scientists swear will swing clear of Earth—but Claire isn’t so sure. It's not until those around her are gripped with fear that Justine pulls it together, acting as a calming influence on her sister and nephew.

On filming the nude scenes, Dunst told me: "Being naked in the film, and emotional. It's all very bare for everyone to see.

Already an award winning film, Dunst took home the Best Actress prize at Cannes -- an award well deserved for her acting in the film. Not to mention, the film garnered eight nominations under the European Film Awards, and continues to get tons of Oscar buzz!

Melancholia opens this week, November 11th! Be sure to go see it, and report back to us with your review!
