Night Sky

Night Sky, an American sci-fi drama TV series created for Amazon Prime Video by Holden Miller and Daniel C. Connolly, aired for the first time May 20, 2022. The first season consists of 8 episodes in total. Unfortunately, a few months after the first season aired, Amazon Prime Video decided not to renew this series for a second season.

Night Sky follows the lives of an old married couple. Their names are Irene and Franklin York. A ton of years back, this couple ended up finding a secret passageway in their backyard. This passageway happened to lead to another planet that is completely empty and deserted. Ever since Franklin and Irene found the secret passageway, they have been keeping it a secret from everyone. Flash forward to their lives in present day, things start to change for the couple. A younger boy ends up entering their life and is described as “enigmatic”. This boy changes everything they thought they new about this passageway. It turns out that the passageway that Franklin and Irene have kept guarded and a secret their whole lives, isn’t the same as what they thought it was. This planet turns out to be so much more amazing than they ever thought it could be.

Since Night Sky aired, it has received many mixed reviews from critics. Many critics have stated that it didn’t live up to what they hoped it would be, and that if it weren’t for the amazing cast, it wouldn’t have been worth the watch. Though, other critics state that they absolutely loved it and how raw it was. They stated that this series is full of different emotions and the power that secrets can hold over us. Overall, the reviews were pretty down the middle and received their fare share of good and bad reviews.
