Resident Evil

Resident Evil, an American action horror TV series made for Netflix by Andrew Dabb, aired for the first time July 14, 2022. This series is based on the video game Resident Evil. This series takes place in its own universe.

Resident Evil takes place in two different time periods throughout the series. One of the time periods shown is 2022 and the other is 2036. The time period that shows the past, shows the lives of Billie and Jade who are fraternal twins. It shows the struggles that they go through in their lives. It shows them ultimately going to the umbrella corporation with Albert when he is given the chance at an executive position. Throughout the series in the “past” segments, it shows them finding out how dark their past actually is. It shows the start of a deadly virus and how they are going to respond to it.

In Resident Evil, it also shows their lives in the present day in the year 2036. Present day, the virus worse than ever, has reduced the population drastically. All the people that have survived are in settlements and walled communities. Though there are billions of people surrounding these places that happened to contract the deadly virus. The people that have contracted the virus are known as “zeroes”. The virus has turned them into deadly cannibals. This series follows the apocalypse and the deadly virus taking over the world, and how the umbrella corporation tries to handle it.

Since Resident Evil aired, it has received quite negative reviews from critics. Critics have stated that this series does come a little closer to being like the video game, and is better than other adaptions. But they still think that it isn’t good enough and could’ve been a lot better. Overall the rating have not been good at all.
