Shining Girls

Shining Girls, an American thriller TV series created for Apple TV+ by Silka Luisa, aired for the very first time April 29, 2022. This series is based off of the book The Shining Girls written by Lauren Beukes. The first season consists of 8 episodes in total. There has not been word as of right now if their will be a second season or not.

The Shining Girls follows the life of Kirby Mazrachi. Kirby works as an archivist for the Chicago Sun-Times. This series follows her life and how she is still struggling in life after the brutal attack. Years back endured a brutal attack. Leaving her on the verge of death, and they just left her there to die. And the person that attacked her and left her for dead ultimately escaped. This series shows her years later, still struggling with what happened to her.

In Shining Girls, she ultimately decides that she wants to find the person that attacked her and caused her so much emotional damage. Whilst trying to figure out who it was that attacked her years ago, she makes a shocking discovery. She finds out there was a murder that was almost identical to what happened to her. She ends up asking Dan Velazques who is a reporter, to help her. While investigating her own attack, multiple cases are brought to light that they believe were done by the person that attacked her. They start out on their hunt for a serial killer that has been killing for decades.

Since Shining Girls aired, it received mixed reviews from critics. Some critics state that it is not worth the watch and state that it isn’t very thrilling like it claims to be. Whereas, other critics state that the main character in the show did an amazing job and made the show worth while.
