Elite is a mature audience, Spanish/thriller drama. Elite, created by Carlos Montero and Dario Madrona, aired on Netflix on October 5, 2018. The age recommended for this show is 16+ as it shows drugs, sexual content, and murder. Because of that, it is not a suitable show for kids. Elite follows students that attend an upscale school. Shortly after they begin attending this school, a murder occurs. Elite follows three normal working-class kids that attend a very wealthy school. After attending this school they start to have a conflict with some of the wealthy students. This conflict ultimately leads to murder.
The show Elite contains a lot of teen drama and explores a lot of different sexual content throughout. When creating this show they made each season have two timelines. Meaning, that the show switches back and forth from the present day and shows scenes from a flash-forward point of view to create more suspense. Critics have rated this show as a “guilty pleasure”.
The show hooks its audience by slowly building up to the good stuff. Elite starts off slow and takes its time to really lay out the plot of the show. By doing this they create more suspense when watching the big murder mystery unfold.
The first season of Elite aired on Netflix on October 5, 2018. The second season aired on Netflix on September 6, 2019. The third season aired on Netflix on March 13, 2020. It then got renewed for a fourth and fifth season with the release date of season four being June 18, 2021, and the fifth season of Elite being released on April 8, 2022. Elite has received very good reviews, hence why it keeps getting renewed for more seasons. Most critics including Rotten Tomatoes have rated this show extremely well. Ultimately claiming that it is thrilling mixed with sexy, and also really peaks your interest.

A student mysteriously goes missing. Guzmán is still grieving his sister while still being hostile toward Samuel. Christian struggles keeping the secret of who killed Marina.

Trying to figure out the truth about Marina’s death, Samuel seduces Carla into fessing up. Lu’s new friend throws an impromptu party. Guzmán goes to the party instead of his sister’s memorial.

It is revealed that Cayetana is i the daughter of housekeeper at the school and had been accepted on a scholarship. Guzmán and Nadia have a spark in their relationship.

From his friends overwhelming him with pressure, Polo can’t take the guilt and attempts to commit suicide. Cayetana and Ander save him.

Nano tries to tell Guzmán he didn’t have anything to do with Marina’s death. Rebeka throws a Halloween party.
E.6 – “66 horas desaparecido“
Lu blackmails Nadia into failing her exam or Lu will tell Nadia’s parents about the relationship she’s been pursuing.
E.7 – “84 horas desaparecido“
Cayetana and Lu start a fundraiser together. Valerio takes a video of Nadia and Guzmán having sex in the locker room and proceeds to send it to Lu.
E.8 – “0 horas desaparecido“
Lu and Valerio’s father catches them in an bad situation. Apparently Samuel did not disappear instead he was hiding in Guzmán’s grandparents house hoping to get Carla to confess.
E.1 – “Carla“
Polo and Carla have to appear in court to hear each side of the story. It seems as if Polo is going to confess to the murder, however, Carla takes back her testimony against Polo.
E.2 – “Samuel y Guzmán“
Nadia and Lu compete against each other for the same scholarship. Nadia threatens Lu’s secret affair if she doesn’t withdraw from the scholarship.
E.3 – “Cayetana y Valerio“
The inspector gives Samuel a important deal. If he plants a bug in Rebeka’s house to bust her moms drug business, his brother will return harm free.
E.4 – “Lu“
When Nadia fails a report, Guzmán decides to make a deal with her dad.
E.5 – “Ander“
Rebeka and Valerio begin selling drugs. Polo, Cayetana, and Valerio take a trip to London. Ander loses his hair from chemo, so he finally reveals his diagnosis to his classmates.
E.6 – “Rebeka“
Nadia gets the scholarship, but decides not to take it when Malick proposes to please their families. However, she is talked back into taking the scholarship by Lu.
E.7 – “Nadia y Omar“
Valerio and Rebeka get expelled for selling drugs. Samuel and Guzmán are expelled due to multiple complaints about bullying.
E.8 – “Polo“
The interactions between Polo and the rest of the classmates over the season play out and are revealed. It is revealed that Lu accidentally stabbed Polo.
E.1 – “El Nuevo Orden“
Benjamin’s children cause a lot of problems: Patrick flirts with Ander and offers to help Omar in exchange.
E.2 – “5 segundos“
The students prepare for the arrival of a new classmate, but become maddened by all the extreme security precautions.
E.3 – “Cuando bailan las mentiras con las tentaciones“
Guzmán and Nadia agree to split up. Phillipe hosts a ball and invites the school.
E.4 – “Soy una…“
In a flash forward, Ari wakes up with memory loss. Benjamin convinces Samuel to join the debate club.
E.5 – “La reinserción“
Ander confronts Omar about hooking up with Patrick. Ari believes that Phillipe was with Mencía the night she supposedly went “missing”.
E.6 – “Te quiero mal“
Ari tells her father to not invite Samuel to their house to separate her personal and private life. Omar stops attending school.
E.7 – “Antes de irme (1a parte)“
Ari and Samuel have started secretly sleeping together, however, they both feel guilty about it.
E.8 – “Antes de irme (2a parte)“
Guzmán won’t forgive Samuel and Ari. Rebeka decides to tell Ari about the mess Mencía is in with Armando.

At a party, a video is played of Phillipe’s victim playing his voicemail confession.

The students are extremely upset when Benjamin starts tracking them through their student apps. Patrick decides to throw a party where “anything goes”.

Following the party, Benjamin gives the students a drug test and threatens expulsion to anyone who tests positive.
E.4 – “El cuerpo“
In a flashback, Armando threatens Benjamin. At a school fundraiser, Benjamin convinces Samuel to quit his job.

The police start an investigation. Ari and Cruz tell Iván and Patrick respectively to leave them alone, causing Iván and Patrick to rekindle their friendship.
E.6 – “No puedes comprar mi amor“
Benjamin and his attorney tell Samuel to take back his confession. Benjamin thinks it would be suspicious if he bailed Samuel out.

The police recruit Samuel to find evidence to put the blame on Benjamin, leading Samuel to forgive Ari.

On the review website Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has a 83% audience rating based on 542 reviews. The second season has an audience rating of 89% based on 355 reviews. The third season has an audience rating of 80% based on 115 reviews. Season 4 opened with mixed reviews and has 51% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. On Rotten Tomatoes, the fifth season has an audience rating of 72% based on 178 reviews. David Griffin of IGN gave the first season an 8.8/10.
