Ghosts, an American sitcom created for Hulu by Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond, aired for the first time October 7, 2021. A few months after the premiere of the first season, it renewed for a second season. The second season is on track to air September 29, 2022. This series is inspired by the British series, also called Ghosts.
In the series Ghosts, it follows the lives of Samantha and Jay Arondekar. In the series, their lives seem seemingly perfect as they have just inherited their absolute dream home. They inherit the house from a relative of Samantha whose name is Sophie. It is their dream country house, and they are absolutely thrilled they inherited it. Though when they get to the house they are in complete shock. The house is completely run down and falling apart. They also discover a bigger issue, there are ghosts living in the house. The ghosts are people that have died on the property and have not been able to leave and cross over to the afterlife. Jay can’t see nor hear the ghosts whatsoever. Though, Samantha had a near-death experience causing her to be able to see the ghosts and hear everything they are saying.
Since Ghosts has aired, it has received some mixed reviews from critics. Some critics have stated that it was a great watch and they absolutely loved the show and the plot. Whereas, other critics have stated that it took multiple episodes to get to anything good. They claimed it was a poor remake of the British version, and that if your going to watch one, to make it the British one as it is much better. Overall, most of the reviews aren’t too great regarding this series.
Rotten Tomatoes reported a 91% approval rating with an average rating of 7.40/10, based on 22 critic reviews. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 72 out of 100 based on 10 critics.
