Johnny Depp was born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. His mother was a waitress and his father was a contractor. Depp was raised in Florida. He dropped out of school at age 15 and became a musician. Depp later moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Depp began his acting career on the popular TV show "21 Jump Street." In 1990, he starred in the movie Edward Scissorhands and received a Golden Globe nomination for his role. He has since starred in dozens of films, including Pirates of the Caribbean and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He has also starred in many films, including "Edward Scissorhands", "Dark Shadows", "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and "Transcendence". Depp has also sung on several albums, including the album "What's Been Happening?" with Ray Charles. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have had a long and successful partnership. They first worked together on Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and have gone on to make nine more movies together. Their films have grossed over $2 billion at the box office.
