Control Z

Control Z, a Mexican teen drama, created for Netflix by Carlos Quintanilla Sakar, Adriana Pelusi, and Miguel Garcia Moreno, and aired for the first time ever May 22, 2020. Not long after the premiere of the first season, Control Z picked up for a second season. Season two aired August 4, 2021. After the premiere of the second season, it announced that it renewed for a third and final season. The third and final season aired July 2, 2022.

Control Z follows numerous teen students in high school. It shows these students at a school assembly when all of the sudden a hacker exposes a student in front of everyone. The hacker exposes her for being transgender. This causes her absolute humiliation and causes complete panic, as her secret spread to everyone in her school. But as the days go on after the first incident with the hacker, the hacking continues. The hacker proceeds to start to out everyone’s secrets one by one. Throughout Control Z you see one of the students try to uncover who is behind the secrets being outed to everyone. The reason she tries to expose the hacker in a quick fashion is that she doesn’t want her secrets to be out to the whole school.

Since Control Z aired, there has been a wide range of different reviews from critics. Many critics have said that it was absolutely great to watch. Ultimately stating it executed everything perfectly, and did a great job keeping you on the edge of your seat. Whereas other critics have stated that it did a really poor job of showing what actual high schoolers lives look like. They made it look like all high school students do is drugs and backstab one another. Which they claimed was quite inaccurate. Overall though, most critics had good things to say.
