Dark Winds

Dark Winds, an American psychological thriller created for Amazon Prime Video by Graham Roland, aired for the first time June 12, 2022. The first season consisted of six episodes. Not long after airing, it renewed for a second season which will also consist of six episodes. The second season expected to air in 2023. This series is based on the novel series Dark Winds by Tony Hillerman.

The series Dark Winds takes place in 1971 and follows the life of Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn. Joe is a part of the tribal police and is completely bombarded with a ton of crimes. All of these crimes seem as if they are completely unrelated. He starts to dig into everything, and starts to discover the truth. Though as he is discovering the truth, he starts to unravel all of the wounds from his past as well.

Throughout Dark Winds, he is accompanied by Jim Chee. Jim is his new deputy, that also has a few demons in his past. Jim has many scores to settle when it comes to his own past. This series follows these two men that try to battle different evils along their journey. It also shows the struggles they have with each other along the way, as well as the personal demons they are fighting from their past.

Since Dark Winds aired, it has received an array of mixed reviews from critics. Some critics state that it is a great show and Rotten Tomatoes have given it the amazing score of 100% approval. Whereas other critics have stated that this series was absolutely horrible. Some critics have stated that it completely lacked authenticity when it came to the Navajo people and how the show represented them. Overall the ratings from critics remain extremely mixed and have stayed in the middle of being good and bad.
