In the Dark, an American crime TV series created for Netflix by Corinne Kingsbury, aired for the first time April 4, 2019. Not long after the first season aired, it renewed for a second season. The second season aired April 16, 2020. It then renewed for a third and a fourth season. The third season aired June 23, 2021, and the fourth season aired June 6, 2022. The first three seasons all consist of 13 episodes, the fourth seasons episode count is unknown as of right now.
In the Dark follows a woman named Murphy. Murphy is in her twenties and is also blind. She kind of just drifts through life, and is constantly in a haze. Murphy has two really great friends Jess and Tyson. Jess is her roommate and Tyson is someone who saved her life when she almost got mugged. One day Murphy and her guide dog decide to go on a walk. On her walk, she ends up stumbling on something, that something happens to be a body. She is convinced that this body is Tyson’s though when she calls the police and they arrive, the body is gone.
Murphy tries to keep herself from falling apart, though the only thing holding her together is figuring out what happened to Tyson. In the Dark follows her journey of trying to figure out who killed her friend. While trying to solve a murder, she is also struggling with her love life and a job that she completely hates.
Since In the Dark aired, it has received some mixed reviews from critics. Some critics state that the main character is extremely compelling and does an amazing job playing her role. Though other critics state that the treatment that they portray when it comes to handicap people is way off and could use some work.
