La Brea

La Brea, an American sci-fi drama created for Amazon Prime Video by David Appelbaum, aired for the very first time September 28, 2021. The first season consists of 10 episodes in total. Since season one aired, it renewed for a second season. The second season will air September 27, 2022.

In the series La Brea, it starts by showing a horrible disaster. In Los Angeles, California, a huge sinkhole randomly appears in the middle of the city. This sinkhole leads to a family separating from each other. The son and his mother fell into the sinkhole, which happens to be primeval land. They are now stuck on this land with a bunch of random strangers, all of which are trying to find out what is going on.

They wonder how they will ever make it back home. And they questioning where they currently are. The daughter and her father ultimately end up surviving the disaster, though they aren’t in the sinkhole with the mom and brother. The daughter barely survived and the father seems as if he will be absolutely no help when trying to solve the mystery of what happened. This is because he frequently has hallucinations and also has a pretty bad past. In La Brea, they try to reunite their family, and they end up discovering the father’s hallucinations might help them. His hallucinations frequently show him where his wife and kid are located. Throughout the series, it shows them struggling to make it back through the portal before they are stuck there forever.

Since La Brea aired, it hasn’t received the best reviews from critics. Many critics have stated that they definitely put in an effort to make it a great show, though they didn’t execute it very well. Overall, reviews haven’t been the best, at least so far for the first season that has aired.
