Yellowjackets, an American drama created for Showtime by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, first aired on November 14, 2021. The first season consists of a total of 10 episodes. By December 16, 2021, the show already renewed for a second season. Though Yellowjackets has been renewed for a second season, it is unknown when it will actually be released. As of May 2022, they had just started with the scripts and had not started filming anything at all.

Yellowjackets takes place in 1996 and follows a team of high school soccer players. In the series, it shows the team flying to Seattle, Washington to compete in a national tournament. Although, in their flight over, as they are flying over Canada, their plane crashes. The plane ends up crashing deep into the woods in the middle of nowhere. Yellowjackets shows the members of the team that survived, and their struggle to stay alive for a whole 19 months. The series also shows their current lives after they made it out of the woods, and how they are doing after the fact as of 2021.

Though Yellowjackets is not based on a true story, it has taken huge inspiration from the real plane crash that did happen, known as the Flight 571 tragedy. In this show you see the players resulting to violent and cannibalistic behaviors whilst struggling in the cold and harsh weather, which widely relates to the Flight 571 tragedy events.

Overall, since Yellowjackets release, the reviews are extremely good regarding every aspect of the show. Critics have not hesitated to praise the actors in this series for their incredible performance. Critics have stated that the cast that plays in the flashbacks did an absolutely phenomenal job. Above all, they stated that they did a fantastic job mimicking the personalities of their present day selves and that the personalities were completely spot on.
