Beyoncé, born September 4, 1981, is an American singer and actress. She rose to fame as the lead singer of Destiny's Child. The group became one of the world's best-selling music act of all time. Destiny's Child was a popular American R&B girl group whose final line-up consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Formed in 1997 in Houston, Texas, the group released their self-titled debut album in 1998. The album also spawned the number-one singles "No, No, No" and "Bills, Bills, Bills". Their second album "The Writing's on the Wall" (1999) became one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling over fifteen million copies worldwide. The album also yielded several hit singles including "Say My Name", "Jumpin' Jumpin'" and "Bug a Boo". In 2001, Destiny's Child announced a hiatus to pursue solo projects. Beyoncé launched her solo career in 2002 with the release of Dangerously in Love. Her 2003 album, B'Day, spawned the number one hit singles "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy". Her 2007 album, I Am... Sasha Fierce, featured the global hits "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar". Similarly, her 2011 album, 4, included the smash hit "Run the World (Girls)". Beyoncé and Jay Z have been together since 2002. They married in 2008 and have one child, Blue Ivy. The couple has weathered many storms, including cheating allegations against Jay Z. But they always seem to come back together stronger than ever. Beyoncé is known as a successful singer, actress, and also a business woman. However, she is also a devoted mother to her three children. Beyoncé has always been open about her love for her children and the importance of family. In 2016, she releases her album "Lemonade" which includes a song called "Sandcastles" that she dedicates to her children. The song talks about the strength of their family bond and how they support each other through good and bad times. Besides music, Beyoncé starred in the 2008 musical film Dreamgirls as Deena Jones, which earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Her other films include Cadillac Records (2008), Obsessed (2009), Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? (2007), and The Fighting Temptations (2003). She also played Etta James in Cadillac Records and Peggy Lee in The Jazz Singer (2017).
