Ryan Gosling was born on November 12, 1980, in London, Ontario, Canada. Gosling is the son of Thomas Ray Gosling, a traveling salesman for a paper company, and Donna (née Wilson), a secretary who worked at a Catholic school. Ryan was the second of their two children; his older sister Mandi was born in 1978. From an early age, Gosling showed an interest in performing. He began by playing roles in high school theater productions such as "The King and I" and "Damn Yankees". When he was thirteen, his family moved to Cornwall, Ontario. There, Ryan Gosling attended St. Mark's High School and participated in the musical theater program at Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts. He was part of the Mickey Mouse Club, a children's television show that aired on the Disney Channel. Gosling was one of several young stars who got their start on the show. Additionally, other stars include Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera.
